Alphabe Thursday - "M" is for Merry Christmas - December 23, 2010

Alphabe Thursday - "M" is for Merry Christmas - December 23, 2010

"M" Is For Merry Christmas,
And peace upon earth,
May joy fill our hearts,
At this time of Christ's birth.

While stars light the skies,
On cold winter nights,
Let singing and rejoicing,
Still skirmishes and fights.

No matter your religion,
You should feel no disgrace,
All of us are part,
Of this great human race.

Al l men are our brothers,
Be they paupers or kings,
Dressed only in rags,
Or the finest of things.

Cherish your loved ones,
Remember to say,
How important they are,
Beyond Christmas day.

It doesn't take much,
To reach someone in need,
With a smile or a touch,
Or a kindly good deed.

Keep the holiday spirit,
Each day of the year,
You'll find it's contagious,
The warmth and good cheer.

I am so glad you liked my Christmas poem. I have
been writing poetry all my life and just published my first poetry book in May, at the age of 65!

    hitesh rawat -
I'm so glad you are home where you belong and working in a company that sounds more your style. How nice that you could celebrate Christmas in New Delhi!

    Rosadimaggio63 -
How lovely it would be, once, to celebrate Christmas in Italy. I've been to Spain and Italy in November when the Christmas decorations are just starting to appear and it is so beautiful.

    Thom -
I hope your Hawaiian Christmas was as wonderful as you are!!!

    Kay L.Davies -
No doubt, there was plenty of snow in your neck of the woods for Christmas!

    Judie -
I am delighted you liked my Christmas poem. This was a little more upbeat than my earlier one.

Living vicariously through your travels has been a joy for me, now that retirement has made such a change in my own ability to get out and see the world as I once did!

    Irredento Urbanita -
These last two years, since my job loss and retirement, have been the most difficult of my
life. 2011, with the birth of my first grandchild, even with a move and having to downsize, will have to be better for me!

    ρομπερτ -
I, too, wish you the best in the year ahead and, as always, I look forward to your posts from
    Athens.

    Jingle -

Hope your Christmas wasn't too rainy. We spent a nice Christmas eve and Christmas day in the Sacramento area. It was nice to have all three of my sons with me.

    rainfield61 -
I'm sure there was no snow in your part of the world on Christmas day!!! Did you run into Santa as you got out and hiked on your beloved
    trails?

    Glynis -
Thank you for your wishes for a better year to come for me. It has to be better than the year past!!

    Personalized Sketches and Sentiments -

I am sure you and your friend are busy celebrating Christmas now and knitting ( or is it
    crocheting? ) your granny squares!!!

    Cheryl -
I'm happy you enjoyed my Christmas poem.

Sweden must be really beautiful at Christmas time. I know it is a wonderful celebration with your family.

    Geeta -
It would have been great fun to celebrate Christmas in India but I enjoyed having all three sons with me. Next year, though, I hope I'll write my poem from my friend's home in Mumbai!

    Jo -
