Camera Critters #141 - An Interchange - December 18, 2010

Camera Critters #141 - An Interchange - December 18, 2010

I know I should be packing and organizing my big move the end of February - I
guess going through photographs could be part of that, right.  I found these, from
about twenty years ago, taken down on the Monterey, CA peninsula, when blogging
was not even a figment of my imagination.  I thought they were kind of cute and perfect
for camera critters - though my photography skills ( and the camera back then ) were
pretty awful!

"Okay, fella, you're a lot bigger than me, but share the handouts, please."

"Well, his look isn't too friendly but he hasn't pounced yet...."

"Wait a minute, big guy, there was room enough for both of us on this rock!"

I am participating in Camera Critters #141!
Check out the site for a look at some other great post and join in the fun!

  1. I seem to be encountering lots of bird posts, including my own. What kind of little mammal is that?

A decade since last I saw a squirrel. Must be indeed a great place to live. Please have a good Sunday.

  4. Both of them were seen twenty years ago; I wonder where are they now..

The squirrel may have a new life over here in Cerok Tokun.

    secret agent woman -
That is a little ground squirrel. You see them down on the Monterey peninsula, about 100 miles south of San Francisco, in the coastal rocks. They are quite tame, having grown used to tourist handouts.

The little ground squirrels aren't like the bushy tailed types that we usually see jumping from tree to tree. They are smaller and have small tails as well and live in the rocky and desert areas.

These little guys are so used to the tourist
traffic in Monterey and Carmel, they will come
right up and eat out of your hand.

It's been awhile since I've done more than just drive past Monterey and Carmel, both areas of spectacular scenery. I always enjoyed seeing the ground squirrels and the otters and seals in
    the Pacific.

You never know...the gull and ground squirrel could easily have stowed away on a ship and made it to Malaysia! I've even thought of it myself since my budget no longer allows me to cruise.

    Indrani -
The tourists are very generous with their offerings of food, there is usually plenty for all the critters!

Out on the Monterey Peninsula, it's always a good
idea to have your camera handy.

I have boxes of old photos from many parts of the world that I'll be going through prior to downsizing and moving from this house I've lived in for 13 years. I'm sure I'll come across some good ones.

Glad you liked these two critters. They are
    always so interesting.

Greetings to you in Italy. I am sure your holiday festivities are keeping you pretty busy.

I would be so much happier if I could celebrate Christmas far away - in Spain or India. I picked my youngest son up at the airport tonight and it so much had me longing to be boarding an outbound flight for an exotic locale.

Colonoscopy on Tuesday, then I can relax and enjoy the holidays a little more!!

I think I had an old Pentax P3 manual camera back when I was shooting these old pictures!!!
