Lonely Nights - Flash 55 Friday

Lonely Nights

the haunting moon soars overhead,
beneath dark clouds,
there is no sound but faint rustling of leaves ,
the house creaks beneath my feet,
as I walk from room to room,
memories of our love bouncing off the empty walls.
two hearts that beat as one, now adrift,
alone and lost, hoping to be found.

  1. Carmen, this is absolutely fantastic. One of your best - the imagery is rich and I love the style. Well done.

What a challenge. What a heart felt poetry of yours. Being born in a full moon night , this was for sure of interest. It is indeed, this hope, this (damn) hope that keeps life moving on.

    A wonderful weekend for you.

  8. G-Man -
I've read some Flash 55 posts and it seemed like fun but I thought it was too much of an effort. I usually write rhyming verse and trying to do that in 55 words gave me a headache - though you certainly did a great job! I will try it again, for sure. You have a great weekend, too.

I'm glad you liked this...you know it is not my usual style of poetry and it is all fiction, really.

My poetry is usually rhyming verse so it was a challenge to do something to participate in this Friday "Flash 55" piece. The tale is fiction though I certainly have a number of lost love memories from which I can draw.

Hope your Athens weekend is good fun!

I thank you for your kind words. Though I have certainly been alone at times, this didn't relate to any particular memory of mine.

While most of this was fiction, I certainly have
experienced the pain of lost love and longing!

I hope I didn't make you too sad with this, my
friend! At least you can get outdoors and have a
    good hike.

I am sorry if I stirred up sad memories for you.
It must be really hard, at times, to be without someone you have loved for so many years.

that was quite a task. I'll try my hand at doing the 55 again. I normally write rhyming verse so this was different for me.
