Lonely Nights - Flash 55 Friday

Lonely Nights

the haunting moon soars overhead,
beneath dark clouds,
there is no sound but faint rustling of leaves ,
the house creaks beneath my feet,
as I walk from room to room,
memories of our love bouncing off the empty walls.
two hearts that beat as one, now adrift,
alone and lost, hoping to be found.

  1. Carmen, this is absolutely fantastic. One of your best - the imagery is rich and I love the style. Well done.

  2. wow. great 55...can feel that emptiness...

    my 55 is up!

  3. Anonymous4:50 PM

What a challenge. What a heart felt poetry of yours. Being born in a full moon night , this was for sure of interest. It is indeed, this hope, this (damn) hope that keeps life moving on.

    A wonderful weekend for you.

  4. "memories of love bouncing off the empty walls" speaks volumes about the loss. Great 55.

    I'm up right HERE

  5. I've been there...vey haunting

  6. This one makes me feel as if I am there experiencing it.

  7. OMG!!!
    This was so brilliantly sad.
    Your First 55?
    WOW...So very perfect.
I've read probably 60 of these today, and yours was the Best so far in my opinion.
    And thats all that counts...hahahaha
Please join us again next Friday...You Rock Baby!
    Have a Kick Ass Week-End...Galen

  8. G-Man -
I've read some Flash 55 posts and it seemed like fun but I thought it was too much of an effort. I usually write rhyming verse and trying to do that in 55 words gave me a headache - though you certainly did a great job! I will try it again, for sure. You have a great weekend, too.

  9. Poetic Shutterbug -
I'm glad you liked know it is not my usual style of poetry and it is all fiction, really.

  10. ρομπερτ -
My poetry is usually rhyming verse so it was a challenge to do something to participate in this Friday "Flash 55" piece. The tale is fiction though I certainly have a number of lost love memories from which I can draw.

Hope your Athens weekend is good fun!

  11. Since my husband has passed away, there are times I feel exactly like this.....:-) Hugs

  12. What a beautiful poem, Carmen.

  13. Brian Miller -
I thank you for your kind words. Though I have certainly been alone at times, this didn't relate to any particular memory of mine.

  14. Susan -
This was my first venture into Flash 55 - glad people liked it!

  15. Susan Erickson -
While most of this was fiction, I certainly have
experienced the pain of lost love and longing!

  16. Ratty -
I hope I didn't make you too sad with this, my
friend! At least you can get outdoors and have a
    good hike.

  17. Bernie -
I am sorry if I stirred up sad memories for you.
It must be really hard, at times, to be without someone you have loved for so many years.

  18. Snowbrush -
how nice to see you here. I am glad you liked my poem. I also hope you are feeling well in these winter months!

  19. This 55 really, really tugs at the heart strings. Your descriptions so vivid that I could visualize it all...

  20. You did a lovely job with this poem, Carmen. It has guts. Nice going for your first go-round.

  21. Anonymous10:02 PM

wow, i can never do those tell a take in xx words. good job!

  22. I can almost see those two hearts separating and walking alone. Great 55.

  23. Peter Stone -
thanks for reading my first 55! I'm glad you liked it.

    Enchanted Oak -
that was quite a task. I'll try my hand at doing the 55 again. I normally write rhyming verse so this was different for me.

    Kamana -
thank you for reading my non rhyming effort!

    Ronda -
many thanks. It was my first effort at Flash 55.
