Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #119 - Jaipur Beauty, Perfect For This Theme! - Marrch 10, 2014

I took this photograph during my five month stay in Jaipur well over a year ago.
I always loved passing by this building, it looked so exotic and, of course, the
doorway and windows - the whole house, really, are in colors I love.  I check
Meme-Aholics from time to time and was so surprised to see the above
meme.  How have I missed it in the past?  Anyway, here are my beautiful
Jaipur doorway and window!

Ruby Tuesday Too - Jaipur Musician - February 25, 2014

Soon, it will be three months since I arrived home from India and I am starting to
feel nostalgic for my "other" country.  I've been going through hundreds of photos
but haven't gotten started with my resolution to learn some Hindi before my return.
Babysitting for granddaughter, Harper, now twenty pounds, leaves me pretty
weary by day's end.  I will get started March 1st, even if it's just an hour a day.

In the meantime, here's a musician that caught my fancy during my five month
stay in Jaipur.

Colorful Puppets of Jaipur - October 22, 2013

Depending on whether you are in India or San Francisco,
I have 42 or or 43 days left in Mumbai - it's 12-1/2 hrs earlier at home!

One of the things I love most about this "country of my heart, is the brilliant colors
everywhere, in clothing, home decor, puppets and, of course, cosmetics.  When
I finally win the lottery, I will return, oblivious of overweight luggage charges, to
outfit my new homes with all sorts of wonderful Indian purchases, in brilliant
colors, to offset gloomy rains and to fill my days with happiness and wonderful
memories of visits to this land I love so much.

UE's Weekend Challenge - Colorful - A Worli Neighborhood, Mumbai, India - October 12, 2013

For the past 4-1/2 months, I have been living in a most colorful country - India.
Even the women, in their every day saris, are incredibly colorful and beautiful.
In the many months I have spent here in the past two years ( a total of 15 months
by the time I return to San Francisco December 3 ), I have amassed quite a
collection of photos and memories.

Just this past Tuesday, on a taxi ride through this Worli neighborhood, I
managed to get this colorful photo as we drove past.  My camera is usually
out and in my hands!

I thought the Masala advertising sign was most colorful, as were the
homes, with laundry hanging out.

Beautiful & Colorful Saris - October 7, 2013

It always seems to me that Indian women are dressed up when clad in their saris.  Even
for every day wear, they look so elegant.  I spotted this entourage last year when I was
in Jaipur.  Wish I could have gotten a bit closer for some better shots.

Floor to Ceiling Color - June 27, 2013

One of the shops, Rosy and I stopped by at the Link Square Mall on Tuesday was
this amazing spot, bright and colorful, that sold all sorts of EXPENSIVE groceries.
I think their card reads "CAREE4R Food Stuff" but it isn't very clear, in a splash
of color.  What I found amusing is that, every inch of space, from floor to ceiling,
was cram full of goods.  They had all kinds of chocolates ( I admonished him for
not having Ghirardelli ) and, even, one kind of marzipan ( which I had to purchase ).

No Kashfi!

Such colorful packaging!

Something for every taste...but I can forego "Old El Paso" in India

Quite a chocolate collection but this place is not for the claustraphobic -
there is barely space in this shop to turn around.

Who is that wierd foreigner taking pictures?

Ummmm, Godiva for every need!

Yea, for the Swiss!

Very expensive nuts but he says they are the BEST!

Farewell - two dark chocolate Kit Kats and a marzipan later!

Monday Mellow Yellows - Yellow San Francisco Home - May 27, 2013

One of the delights of living in the San Francisco area - and one of the
reasons I always have my camera with me - is the wonderful abundance
of beautiful Victorian homes.  Even many other houses are painted in
bright and beautiful colors that make you stop your car, pull over and
get out your camera.  I will miss those during my six months in India
but, thankfully, there is so much in that enormous country that I enjoy
photographing.  While I'm there sweltering in the heat, I'll remember
that I've complained my whole time at home that I haven't been warm
enough.  Right now, it's 61 degrees in Daly City, California and 90
degrees in Mumbai, India!

Mellow Yellow Monday #187 - Sari Shopping, A World of Color - August 20, 2012

While in Chandigarh in the Punjab, my friends took me when they went shopping
for saris to send to their daughter/sister who lives in Australia.  It was a whirlwind
of beautiful colors, sparkles and amazing choices.

Ruby Tuesday 2 - A Delightful Indian Preschool - July 23, 2012l

My guest house shares space with a preschool here in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.  My
private entrance, in fact, is next to that the children use but, since they leave about
noon, I still have my privacy and I enjoy seeing them come and go.  I keep thinking
I should ask the teachers if I could sit in on classes so I can learn Hindi!!!  I love
these bright, colorful signs out front which are perfect for Ruby Tuesday 2.

Mellow Yellow Monday #166 - On the Road to New Delhi - March 26, 2012

There was so much to see in the blur as our taxi driver flew down the road
between Patiala and New Delhi.  These women, in their colorful saris, caught
my attention.

The saris worn by women in different  parts of India are quite different
from each other.  I have not purchased any.  Watching my "sister", Lorna,
wrap one has convinced me that I would come unraveled and be,
embarrassingly, on display.  The saris are are so beautiful, though, I
am always in awe.

Another De Young Museum Offering - August 21, 2011 - Shadow Shot Sunday #170 & Mellow Yellow Monday #135

This rather stern looking gentleman could have been fitting for a number of
memes.  Unfortunately, I didn't get a photo of the placard so I don't know who
made him nor the composition material.

He was at the De Young Museum in San Francisco and I rather preferred him
to Picasso!
