Mellow Yellow Monday #166 - On the Road to New Delhi - March 26, 2012

There was so much to see in the blur as our taxi driver flew down the road
between Patiala and New Delhi.  These women, in their colorful saris, caught
my attention.

The saris worn by women in different  parts of India are quite different
from each other.  I have not purchased any.  Watching my "sister", Lorna,
wrap one has convinced me that I would come unraveled and be,
embarrassingly, on display.  The saris are are so beautiful, though, I
am always in awe.

I am participating in Mellow Yellow Monday, #166 - check out the site
and add your splash of yellow to join in the fun.

    amazing colours.

    please have a good tuesday.

  10. Thanks,'s been amazing, the splendour of the saris here

  11. I love the bright colours of the saris. They are not so attractive when worn in a colder clime though. I think the saris need the sun to show them off.

  12. beautiful pic
yes there are different types of sarries and even few conduct the classes on how to wear them

  13. I did not know there were differences. My friend, Marie, has been to two Indian weddings and her friend, Vetta, has tried to get her to wear one, but she refuses.

  14. You, dressed with a sari, look wonderful. Continue enjoying your days there my dear friend!!!!

    Yellow energies for you.

  15. I'm afraid I'd be unraveled too but I do love the gorgeous saris and this photo too.
    Happy weekend, xo jj

  16. Yes, they are so lovely and colourful, as you say. I've worn the shalwar kameez many times but like you, I don't think I could get to grips with a sari!

  17. I think that traditional dress looks better on the people for whom it was created, and the possibility of my clothes falling right off of me would have certainly given me pause had I been sari shopping.
