Instant Millionaire - Flash 55 Friday, 4-23-10

She felt the tension mounting,
Her pulse raced in her chest,
She prayed she knew the answer,
She’d try her very best.

Her family lived in poverty,
Their dreams were pinned on her,
So she’d tried out for this contest,
The rest was just a blur.

A millionaire... an answer to a prayer!

  9. Wonderfully told 55 word poem, Carmen! Wouldn't all our hearts race faster to win a million dollars? :-)

PS: I'd love to see Butchart Gardens one day! Our Brooklyn Botanic is not as large but so pretty this time of year!

  16. PattiKen - yes, it is nice when the lottery is won by someone who needs it, not someone who already has a hefty bank account!

  17. Brian Miller - now that I lost my job of 21 years, with my subsequent decrease in income of $90,000/year, I'm hoping I'll be that millionaire lottery winner!

  18. My Farmhouse Kitchen - sounds like Teddy will have met all of SLO and surroundings in a week or so! I know you are having great fun with him. Is he comfortable already with you and hubby - not missing his mommy and siblings too much?

  21. Dulce - I spend far too much time dreaming about this, especially since I lost my job and retired.

  22. SandyCarlson - I guess it is possible but not really probable..I do, occasionally, buy a lottery ticket, in hopes!

  23. Pat @ Mille Fiori Favoriti - you would so love Butchart and the beautiful city of Victoria. You could do that and Vancouver, another really beautiful city. Your botanic garden is lovely, though.

At this stage of the game, a year after the job loss and trying to make ends meet, a $50,000 wine would elate me.

  25. Jingle - I find it a big difficult to come up with a story in 55 words...a little easier in
    poetic form than prose.

  31. Icy BC - more than ever, I need to win the lottery. I am so close to going under 15 months after the end of my job. It's a good thing I have a van because it may become my home pretty soon.
