  1. I wouldn't mind to live there, and they have a lot of light with those windows. It's such a charming house!

  3. Cool house. It reminds me so much of houses from my childhood.

  4. There's a street in our town that has deep, vivid, colors like that on most of its houses. Wonder if the neighbors got together and planned it...

  6. Nice house. I'm glad to see one brightly painted now and then, it punctuates an otherwise dull view!

  9. Oh my gosh -- I love seeing those kind of colorful homes. Don't know that I'd want to live in one (I'm more the shy and retiring type ;>)...but I love looking at them.

BTW, you had me at your header photo =-- those blossoms are fantastic!!

  13. Love the colors. We are going to repaint the outside of our house in the Philippines, and that dark yellow color is exactly what my wife is planning to use.

  16. fullet - the only bad thing about houses in this area is that they are so close together and there is very limited street parking! You can see all kinds of wild colors, too!

  17. Cinner - you either love these colors or hate them. On the San Francisco victorians, there is a huge business in painting them and a great book out called "Painted Ladies" - it's fun to see the combinations that they come up with!

  18. willow - Where did you grow up that had houses painted such colors? I never saw such things before moving to the San Francisco area!

  19. Tina - Where do you live with the colorful houses? I would love to see them.

  20. Manang Kim - This house does have a happy look to it with the yellow and green color. I have one that is blue and yellow that I'm posting soon. I like bright yellow because it is so cheery. Someone on my street has a bright yellow van and it is so cute!

  21. Dimple - There is definitely nothing somber about
this yellow house. It's hard to stay depressed, looking at it!

  22. lazyclick - I kind of wish my landlord would paint my house something so bright and cheerful.

  23. Jenny - I think you're right. It would be hard to stay gloomy in a house this color!

  24. Sallie (FullTime-Life) - San Francisco's Victorians, especially, are beautifully painted, in all colors of the rainbow. This Daly City house can't compare to those.

As for the header, isn't it spectacular. You should check out ruma2008's blog, "Calligraphy in the Landscape" - he's responsible for this photo and hundreds more of incredible beauty.

  25. Marice - I imagine the folks who painted this hourse had to keep sunglasses on the whole time!

  26. Brian Miller - I never thought about these home owners being packer's fans...in 49'er territory!

  27. Poetic Shutterbug - Do you think they would dare paint Packer's colors, Jo! Blasphemy!

  28. The Rooster Crows at 4am! - Are you the one who will be doing the painting, my friend - and do you look good in yellow?

  29. betchai - I agree, SF is a showplace of interesting and colorful houses - especially the Victorians, with all their gingerbread trim!
Can't wait till you come and Jo and I can take you out and about!
