Jaipur Cow - November 28, 2014

Cows wander the streets freely in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. This fellow seemed to be taking a rest against this orange brick wall.

Orange You Glad It's Friday, Week 114 - October 30, 2014

First of all, I must congratulate my home team San
Francisco Giants on their great World Series win.
It was a knuckle biting seven games and, though I
didn't actually watch them from India, I followed, almost
play by play, on internet news.

I offered prayers to almost every deity, including Lord
Ganesha, the Indian god, known as the overcomer of
obstacles.  To whichever god ( or all of them ) that
helped my team win, thank you!!  Our city rejoices.

My "orange you glad Friday" post is of a sweet Lord
Ganesha I found at Creative Textiles in Jaipur, a store
that had wonderful fabrics and made lovely clothes
from them.  I came home with two outfits and this
little Ganesha.  I now have a small collection of Ganeshas.

Orange You Glad It's Friday, #86 - Northern California Sky - April 18, 2014

I wish I was at my old home just off the Pacific Ocean for this sunset but it is
dazzling even here a hundred miles north in West Sacramento with no ocean
in the neighborhood.  These displays of nature are a reward and a reminder
that, indeed, there are some splendid gifts in this world that don't cost a thing.

Orange You Glad It's Friday - Orange Sari Clad Motorcyclist in Jaipur - September 6, 2013

Jaipur, Rajasthan, India seems to be much stricter with its helmet laws than
Mumbai.  Most often, drivers do wear helmets ( sans the chip strap much of the
time, though, which is of great concern to me ).  I am always reminding them
that, without it, the helmet is merely a decoration and won't protect their brain
if they are in an accident or hit a bump ( India has so many potholes! ).

Often, you will see the second passenger wearing a helmet as well - though
children won't have them on.

Here we have my "orange" for today - a lady, clad in an orange sari, riding
"pinion" - this was a new word for me when I came to India.  Motorcycles
really scare me and, if I would ever ride one ( which I doubt ), I would have
to have both legs straddling the cycyle.

Orange You Glad It's Friday, #53 - Pacifica, California Sunset

On September 3rd, I'll be in India three months - with three more months to go.
So far, I haven't seen a sunset to rival this one back home in Pacifica,
California.  Of course, we're finishing up a very rainy monsoon season so,
with the cloudy skies, I haven't seen many sunsets at all!

I am participating in

for the first time.
