Beautiful & Colorful Saris - October 7, 2013

It always seems to me that Indian women are dressed up when clad in their saris.  Even
for every day wear, they look so elegant.  I spotted this entourage last year when I was
in Jaipur.  Wish I could have gotten a bit closer for some better shots.

  1. I wonder why we have to dress in boring black - why don't we have more color choices, colorful fabrics.....
    Have a good week!

    1. Not only are the saris colorful, they are often beaded and have little mirrors on them...and these are for everyday wear! The fancy saris are unbelievable.

    1. While I have bought some Indian outfits, I've avoided saris .They just seem so complicated to wrap.

  7. They do seem to have it right don't they...gorgeous vibrant colours everywhere.
Our blacks must seem very boring to them. I'm going to try to make a conscious effort to add more colour today! ;D
    Happy Blue Monday!

    1. I love bright colors myself and, rarely wear anything subdued....give me bright purples, yellows, aquas...not the pastel pinks.

  8. Colors! I always fancied wearing a sari. Once I saw my niece (FB photos) dressed up in sari during church socials. I thought she also looked like an Indian woman :) Love that yellow sari because it has purple in it and purple is one of my fave colors. The blue is very lovely too.

  10. Beautiful colours! I'm so tired of all the black clothing we have, especially in the winter - no colours anywhere!

    1. So true...India seems to be the most colorful of all in terms of wear. In Japan, except for their gorgeous kimonos, women were rather someberly dressed.

    1. These women were out on a weekday...not sure where they were going...but, yes, their saris were just regular ones....bright and colorful...but you should see the fancy saris on special occasions. Unbelievable.

  14. I like saris. My friend who has married an Indian has her closet full of very precious saris. In the beginning of their marriage she wore them on special occasions, now 40 years later she doesn't wear them anymore, lol ! Looks too exotic in Belgium !

    1. You'd think, by now, I could stop being mesmerized by saris...I don't own one though I have bought several Indian outfits. I would need someone to help me wrap it!!!

    1. Aren't they lovely, Pat. I have purchased several kurta outfits...like the comfort of pants...and I don't think I could ever master wrapping a sari.
