Pink Saturday - Pink Gerbera - September 3, 2011

The Gerbera daisy, also called the African daisy, is a genus of ornamental
plants from the sunflower family.  It is the fifth most popular cut flower in the
world and comes in many colors which, besides being attractive to humans,
are popular to bees, butterflies and birds.

I am participating in Beveryly's Pink Saturday -
check out the site to see all kinds of delightful pinks and add one of
your own to take part!

  1. They are gorgeous, and I love that two tones colors!

  2. Carmen, your photography is beautiful. I love Gerber daisies too. I wished they would last longer after cutting though!

  3. Beautiful colors! I think I can see why they are one of the most popular cut flowers! Happy PS!

  4. I'm not a big fan of pink, but that is stunning!

  5. i love your flower arrangement, Carmen, so cheery.

  6. Jidhu Jose -
These Gerbera daisies are certainly showy - especially in a large field with all their brilliant colors!

    betchai -
My son and daughter-in-law left these all about the house in West Sacramento for me the week I was house and granddog sitting while they were in Hawaii!

    Icy BC -
I think that beautiful two tone color is the main draw of the Gerbera daisy. It is incredible, isn't it?

    Pat -
I'm glad you enjoyed my photography. It is sad those flowers are so short lived, even if you change the water daily.

    Sharkbytes (TM) -
I don't like light pastel pinks but I do like hot pinks like these Gerbera. I've never been a pastel girl.

    Tricia -
Thanks for the visit! It's nice that you can find these flowers, even at the local supermarkets.

  7. Lovely!
I had a pink and red variety, unfortunately both didn't survive.
