"N" Is For Nightmares - Alphabe Thursday, 4-22-10

I am participating in Jenny Matlock's Alphabe Thursday

Nightmares

Just when I’m nice and comfy,
And I’m finally sound asleep,
Into my peaceful slumber,
Awful dreams begin to creep.

Sometimes I’m being chased,
By a dozen handsome men,
That none can ever catch me,
Seems a downright sin!

I dream of tons of candy,
Stretching out of sight,
Every kind of chocolate,
But I never get a bite!

One night I had a dream,
That I won the lottery,
And I gave every cent,
To my favorite charity.

I often dream of travel,
To exotic distant shores,
But when the plane has landed,
They can’t open up the doors!

Monsters never chase me,
I don’t have those kind of dreams,
Yet they feel like nightmares,
Just without the screams.

  7. Wow, love your poem. So creative. Thanks for stopping by and the gracious comment. So funny what you said about reminding my husband how much money I save him. He jokes about that all the time when I buy something on sale, he says you saved me money again didn't you! Yes, I save him a ton doing all the painting around here.

  13. Carmen...ssshhhh...Mrs. Matlock is out of the room so I wanted to write you.

Do you submit these anywhere for publication?

Seriously, girl, I think these are really good.

    How's your Mom?

    Hugs,
    Jenny

    Uh oh, Here's Mrs. Matlock...bye.

    Miss Carmen,

As usual I find your poetic and creative endeavors excellent.

    You are an exceptional student.

I suggest you take your writings to a contest of some type. I suspect you will win and then, of course, you can give credit where credit is due...

    To me...as your inspirational teacher.

    A+
    Outstanding work.

    Mrs. Matlock

Carmen...sssshhhh...it's me again for a quick sec. Boy, Mrs. Matlock is a windbag. Don't listen to her...I know that talent is all you.

    Bye,
    Jenny

Very well done. Remaining awake for the most part of the night, those nightmares become many times dreams of a night dark day for me. Yet it has been a while since last "seen". Please have a wonderful Friday.

  19. My Name is P.J. - thanks so much. In reality, I don't even remember ever having a real nightmare!

  20. JDaniel4's Mom - I appreciate your stopping by and reading my "Nightmares" - I wish one of those handsome men would catch me! As long as he's nice as well ( rich wouldn't be bad,
    either )

  21. Viki - I had fun writing this - humor is easier than the sad, contemplative poems I write.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Lady K - oh, wouldn't it be wonderful to win the lottery! I wrote an entire poem about that once...I think it's in this blog somewhere!

  23. critical crass - I've been blessed to have traveled all over the world during my 65 years and, one of my concerns has always been, what if, when I arrive, something goes wrong and I can't stay at my destination. My prayer is always, "if there has to be a problem, let it be at the END of my trip!"

  24. Icy BC - yes, I wish everyone's nightmares were just that benign!

  27. Rocky Mountain Woman - it was fun to write poetry that was a bit more light hearted.

  28. Tracy - in reality, they weren't bad nightmares -
I feel sorry for those folks who are so plagued by the really horrible kind.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Christy - these were pretty mild nightmares, thankfully. I really don't remember dreams, though so I don't know if I've had bad nightmares.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Jo - glad your stop by my blog was entertaining. Come back sometime!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ayie - do you have nightmares? I really don't or, thankfully, I never remember them.

  32. Jenny - at the age of 65, my first poetry book, "Life's Journey" should be available on Amazon ( $12.99 plus shipping ) in about a month. It will have about 50 of my poem. If it sells, I will do a second. People like you have encouraged me, for years, to put my poems in a book but I've procrastinated. I so regret not doing it while my mother could be aware that it is dedicated to her.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Brenda - so happy you liked my poem. Praise makes me keep trying!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Dulce - one of these days, I want to try my hand as some of those beautifully erotic pieces you do...but I don't have too much experience to draw on..or it's all so long ago, I've forgotten!

  35. Betty (picture circa 1951) - thank you so much,
    Betty!

  36. ρομπερτ - Robert, I don't think I've had a real nightmare since my youth and staying up late to watch all those scrary movies of the Freddie Kruger genre.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Pondside - fun nightmares, mine, no monsters or really scary things.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Julie Schuler - do you have nightmares? I used to sleep so little in my long ago on call nights, I seldom had time to dream!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Kamana - I am so glad to give you a reason to smile! It's fun writing humorous poems!
