Flash 55 Friday - Another Year Older and Deeper in Debt - October 1, 2010

I'm looking at the wrinkle creams,

And frowning at their price,

Those within my budget,

Really promise nothing nice.

My hair is turning grayer,

And I've gained a pound or two,

But Sunday I'll be sixty-six,

So what's a girl to do?

I think I'll have a cheer,

I made it through another year!

Fleeing Havana - Flash 55 Friday, 4-9-10

The forlorn sound of foghorns,

Pieced the murky night,

Terrified, they clung together,

Hoping they were out of sight.

Cuba seemed so far away,

And freedom seemed so near,

But neither dared to hope,

For there still was much to fear.

.Suddenly, a flashlight shone in their faces.

"It's okay.

Bienvenidos.

You are now safe."

Where Is That Dratted Rabbit? Flash 55 Friday, 4-2-10

Where did that Easter rabbit go,

Careening here and there,

He’s running willy nilly,

Dropping baskets everywhere.

I saw tons of chocolate candy,

And jellies by the heaps,

With lots of little cuddly toys,

And at least a zillion Peeps.

Somehow, that bunny passed me by,

Woe is me, I’m going to cry!

Another Spring Poem - Flash 55 Friday, March 19, 2010

Sunny California skies,

Warm refreshing days,

Flowers blooming everywhere,

Seals basking in the rays.

New growth in the vineyards,

Birds nesting in the trees,

It’s the season for rebirth,

Now we’re past the winter freeze.

Blankets hanging on the line,

Winter garments stored away,

Children playing happily outside,

Bringing mom a spring bouquet.

About time!

Sad Valentine

I know I’ll be at home alone,

When Valentine’s is here,

I’ll probably sip a glass of wine,

And maybe shed a tear.

I thought our love was limitless,

I fell for all your charms,

I couldn’t think quite rationally,

When I was in your arms.

Being blinded by love is not a good thing!
