New Year's Thoughts - From a Seventy-Year-Old! - December 30, 2014

I've just been reminiscing,
About great New Year's past,
I would dance the night away,
And have a merry blast!

I'd party hearty with my friends,
Raise my voice in "Old Lang Syne,"
And join the happy, rowdy bunch,
In a midnight conga line!

I'd wear a slinky, sparkly dress,
And heels, the six-inch kind,
And cleavage showing far too much,
Sexy BUT refined!

I'd see the New Year's sunrise,
Not ready yet for sleep,
And resolutions weren't for me,
Promises I'd never keep!

I'm lucky now to be awake,
When the New Year saunters in,
One martini and I'm asleep,
Much to my chagrin.

I'd love to find a partner,
To hold me while we dance,
He'd need strong arms and back,
Forget about romance!

I keep my cleavage covered,
Saggy boobs are best that way,
I do admit to vanity,
In covering up my gray!

I make one resolution,
To try to keep life fun,
To cherish those I've grown to love,
Till my New Year's days are done.

None of us can know, for sure,
When our sojourn here will end,
I'm grateful for God's gifts to me,
For each and every friend.

I wish my lovely family,
And friends both far and near,
Health, love and happiness,
In the coming year.

  1. Hello, RNSANE.

    Happy New Year.

    Warm Greeting
    From Japan, ruma ❃

    1. I hope you are staying warm in Japan, dear Ruma. I am unbelievably cold here in California after my most recent five month sojourn in India. I don't like the high Indian temperatures but they seem to make my aching joints feel a little better. Blessings to you in the New Year and I cherish our continuing friendship.

  2. happy new year

    1. Hoping that 2015 will be your best year ever. I'm headed back to India May 5th, provided my health stays reasonably well. At 70, one never knows!

  3. Hi Carmen, Happy 2015 to you and yours!

I just caught up on your last post. Gosh, Harper Ann is getting so big and more beautiful than ever! So glad you are enjoying your time and will have the whole family together for Christmas.

The drive in the rain storm to SF sounds brutal but it's so nice that you have such wonderful friends to keep you company. I've always admired that about you-- Through your posts I've come to learn that your friendships are deep and meaningful and plentiful. Love that.

  5. Nicely penned, I liked the flow of words. A very happy new year to you!
