The Pink House - Flash 55 Friday, June 11, 2010

The Pink House - Flash 55 Friday, June 11, 2010

A house of cotton candy pink,
It seems a cheerful place,
But what goes on inside its walls,
Is definitely not the case.

Foster children live here,
In conditions inhumane,
But when state inspectors visit,
No one sees the pain.

Their sad pleas and all their fears….

Their lonely, anguished tears

fall on deaf ears.

If you would like to tell a tale in exactly 55 words, post it and go and tell the G-Man

Please note - this is a work of pure fiction.  This beautiful pink house is NOT,
to my knowledge, home to foster children, nor are unspeakable acts committed within its walls!

  5. For some reason, many of today's stories seem to have a sensory theme going on.
    Loved your 55 Carmen..
    Excellent job!
Thanks for playing, thanks for visiting, and have a Kick Ass Week-End...G

  6. That is such a tragedy. So often the worst places and people put up the most sticky-sweet faces.

  7. oh how sad... yet fabulous at the same time! one would equate a pink house of a cheery, happy out-going life, yet who can really judge by the cover???

on another front it brings an old pink joke from child hood to mind... shall I give you a peek?

There was pink hotel, with pink stairs and pink railing, with pink shutters and pink windows and a pink door with a pink door knob with a pink keyhole. One guy walks up to the pink hotel with pink stairs and pink railing, with pink shutters and pink windows and a pink door.... haha you get the jist (it would last about 6 pages if I continued)...

    fab 55!

  9. You can't help wondering. After all, you worked all your life in a certain field; bound to leave you wondering about human nature.

An outstanding entry of yours. Much important indeed ! Makes one hope that people will start again to listen to their environment, teachers as well, as they see the children day in, day out.
Please have a nice start into the weekend.

  11. Brian Miller - I'm not sure what kind of work you do - social worker, perhaps? Juvenile detective? I could have easily heard my poem in my work as a forensic nurse!

  12. Travelingjoan - I don't know this house at all. My tale is fiction - though, in my work, I've heard many similar to that!

  13. Shiju Sunugun - Actually, I don't know the folks who live inside - they probably are the nicest people. I was just making up the tale. Easy to do since, in my 21 years as a forensic nurse, I often heard stories like that!

  14. G-Man - I decided to do a tale that was from my work archives...though no one ever lived in such a cute pink house.

  15. Alice Audrey - you are right about that. Some people do misrepresent themselves and come across squeaky clean!

  16. Kay - I would really like to know who lives in that pink house. It is really kind of cute and none of the other houses on the block are so charmingly painted.

  17. lakeviewer - I do wonder. It could be an Asian family as so many residents of the Sunset are from Asia.

  18. ρομπερτ - actually, teachers are often the first ones who pick up abuses of children in foster care, fortunately. I don't know what we would do without them!

  21. Isn't it sad that homes and people can harbor horrid secrets. Even though your poem does not relate to this house directly it relates to life and the fact that you just never know what goes on behind closed doors.

  22. wow!! I was admiring that pink house, thinking how much it reminds me of the (non-pink)one in the show Party of Five that use to be on tv, set in San Francisco! Then I read your ditty...and it saddened me. So glad to then read it was fiction! Love the pic tho!!
Hope you are doing well and having a great weekend!

  23. The house has the color that is good for California.

    Oh... "California"...
I love the sound of the words.
    There is ground paradise.
I feel that U.S.A. is grand.
    Scale. Area. Variety. Love. etc...

I cannot still forget the brightness of San Francisco.

    Thank you.
