Magpie Tales #10, 4-20-10

We rush pell mell through our days,
At such a frenzied hectic pace,
As though our sojourn on this earth,
Is some kind of harried race.

No timekeeper clocks our progress,
We dictate the paths we take,
Life could be much more precious,
It's about choices that we make.

We may cross the finish line,
And lose our soul along the way,
As seconds tick so quickly by,
Stop the clock and LIVE, I say!

  3. Carmen, we were thinking along the same lines. Love your ending! I find myself wishing my days away, always waiting for the weekend and then not doing the things I should or wish I would. *big sigh*

  4. Yes, get rid of those clocks - although - you wouldn't want to actually get rid of this one, would you.
    If only....

  5. We can't stop the clock, though it makes a great motivator, I wind the clock to reach out with an open hand and measure each moment!
    Great poem!

  8. Brian Miller - I have to agree with that adage about stopping to smell the roses - things go by in such a blur, sometimes. I've taken to keeping my camera with me, at all times now, after regretting missing so many wonderful photographs!

  10. Star - well, this magpie timepiece is quite lovely so I guess I would keep it but all those that we keep focused on every second, out with them!

  11. Dianne - I guess, if we can learn to let go of time, and allow ourselves to relax and enjoy ourselves once in awhile, it wouldn't be so bad.

  12. Tina - so glad you liked this week's magpie reminder reminding us, in essence, to stop and smell the roses!

  14. OH IF ONLY . . . .but alas as I get older it is the ticking away of time prompting me to set order to my days.

    Wonderful!

  17. I could feel that rushing sensation as I read this. It's the same thing I feel in my normal life. My way of stopping the clock is to walk out into the middle of a big forest.
