Mellow Yellow Monday #116 - Yellow at the Asian Art Museum, San Francisco - April 11, 2011

My recent visit to this lovely museum was a treasure trove of photographs for my
blog.  I will go back again soon.

I was unable to photograph the information about these two perfume bottles, there
were so many people in front of that case.  There were about a hundred beautiful
bottles, some very tiny, others a little larger.

These four ritual water vessels are from China, Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province.
Qing dynsasty, reign of the Qianlong emperor ( 1736 - 1795 ).  Pocelain with
overglaze polychrome decoration.  From the Avery Brundage Collection.

I am participating in Mellow Yellow Monday - to see more yellow contributions,

  5. fantastic finds! There are many shades of yellow indeed. the perfume bottles are so intricate. those royal Asians they sure know how to use gold and make things look so majestic and royal like those water thingies...my heart skip the beats whenever I see these, as such the tomb of the last king nguyen is crazily decorated like a throne from the entrance to the steps...wish you could see it.

I love Asian Art - was in Taiwan once and got to see the National Museum which was incredibly beautiful - all the treasure Chiang Kai Chek brought when they fled China.

Their collection of perfume bottles is beyond belief and must be worth a fortune.

It is good to see you. I finally heard from my dear friend in Akita but, thus far, I have not had any contact from my friend who is a medical examiner in Kobe. I am sure she is overwhelmed with work right now.

I would love to have one of those little perfume bottles and they would be fun to collect - however, I've told myself "no more collections" and I've even started giving some of my things away.

I am the same - the small Asian items I like very much - and some of the furnishings, too - though the wooden block pillows don't seem too comfortable to me!

I have been fortunate to see so many amazing places and things in my travels. I think that is why being grounded is so hard for me now. Of course, I find that my arthritis, especially in my shoulders, is so bad now, I know it would be hard to make really long trips. If I had the money, though,I'd still be traveling. One of the places I haven't been yet is Angor Wat in Cambodia and Machu Piccu in Peru - places I wanted to see before I died.

Those objects, from the past, were really quite exquisite, weren't they? I wish we could go back in time, just for a little while, to see how things were.

It is so nice to be able to see these beautiful works of art. I know some cultures don't use much color but this museum is filled with a great deal of it, especially reds.

I’m amazed, I have to admit. Seldom do I come across a blog that’s
both educative and interesting, and without a doubt, you've hit the nail on the head. The issue is an issue that not enough people are speaking intelligently about. I'm very happy that I found this during my hunt for something regarding this. payday loans\nAlso visit my web-site instant loans
