Alphabe-Thursday, Rainbow Summer School - Blue - August 26, 2010
Blue is a special color,
Shading from red to green,
To give you a lovely palette,
With its choices from in between.
It's the color of the sky above us,
On beautiful clear blue days,
So welcome after winter storms,
When the sun sends warming rays.
Blue is the color of robin's eggs,
Such a lovely sight to see,
But they're usually hidden in a tree,
Far away from you and me!

Blue is part of Old Glory,
May our flag eternally wave,
In honor of all who have served her,
In the land of the free and the brave!
Many items of clothing are blue,
From navy to the palest pastel,
It's a color that is suitable for most,
From men to the most femine belle.
Blue is the color of oceans,
Which cover most of our earth,
As a source of food and water,
They are of incredible worth.
Treasures of art and paintings,
Make use of the color blue,
Enriching our lives and our spirits,
With the qualities it seems to imbue.

ReplyDeleteYou said in a comment on my blog that you are a big fan of Bollywood. I would love to read a post about the movies that you would recommend. I've only seen some of the Westernized ones like Monsoon Wedding, Bride and Prejudice, Slumdog Millionaire, etc.

I like the blue robin's eggs.
ReplyDeleteStrapping young boys you've got there, Carmen!!!! :) haha! I say "young boys" because you're my friend, but in reality, I think they're probably just my age!
ReplyDeleteBlue is a very important color, too, because of the fact that you need it to make many other colors! Like purple, violet, fuchsia, green, and etc! :)

The ocean blues always amaze me - they are so different world wide. I guess it depends on the
depths of the water, etc.

That elephant was in a store window in San Francisco's Chinatown. I collect elephants but am near poverty level with an annual drop in my income of $90,000/year after losing my job 18 months ago in massive budget cuts to the Dept of Public Health. I didn't even inquire as to the price. In the old days, that would now be in my living room!!!

Since I wrote my first poem at 6, I've almost got 60 years now of doing this. Hope I can always be creative!

I really like royal blue as well. I don't like pastel colors at all...give me rich, vibrant colors. I saw five Bollywood movies this weekend. I'll have to give some serious thought and send you some recommendations. One of the weekend movies was a thriller, "Kurbaan" - filmed partly in New York.

I see robins occasionally but I've never had the pleasure of spotting those marvelous blue eggs. Aren't they an amazing color?

Yes, my handsome young men are 25 ( Jeremy will be 26 Nov 2 ), Shawn will be 40 in Dec, and, of course, Alex is 28 today. He's the only one married. I didn't do well with the husbands ( I
have always remained good friends with Shawn's dad and his wife of 20+ years, though ).
