To Catch a Thief - Flash 55 Friday, July 23, 2010
Atop his perch, he scans his world,
Searching both the land and sea,
Hoping he will come across,
A tasty fish or delicacy.
It seems the competition’s fierce,
For just as he is set to fly,
Another gull steals his fish,
Letting out a raucous cry!
Where is that cat when you really need him?

ReplyDeleteVery cute! Alas, one of my cats would want to be friends with your gull. She's a lousy watch-cat.

My gull, atop his perch, was waiting so patiently for his prey, he inspired me to poetry.
Brian Miller -
Those gulls were as large as many cats I've seen.
John's comments -
I'm sure fish don't enjoy meeting their demise because of these hungry gulls. There are certainly hundreds of them in the coastal areas around San Francisco.
Glynis -
Always appreciate your comments!

The battle for food is a constant at the beach -
the gulls never seem to find enough food.

Somehow, we always seem to manage to come up with more verse, don't we?

It really is a matter of constantly having to worry about where the next morsel is coming from!!! Whether its humans or our fine feathered friends.

Seagulls and pigeons aren't my favorite birds but I guess they need to eat, too.

I always think of cats and birds as being natural enemies...but maybe not!

Once I discovered that magical daisy field overlooking the Pacific, I knew that had to be my header!
