Happy Birthday, USA
It’s the time to fly Old Glory,
On our country’s national day,
And join with friends and family,
To say “Happy Birthday,” USA,
Many fought before us,
For the freedoms we hold dear,
And, still our troops are fighting,
In lands so far from here.
May they return safely to their loved ones at home.

ReplyDeletemine is up!

ReplyDeleteI like this. It's a very patriotic tribute for a day when patriotism is so right. Years ago, i saw the opening ceremonies for the LA Olympics while sitting in a living room in Brazil. I have never felt so proud and patriotic as I did that day.

I loved the color of this new blogger template. It was close to the shade of the cover I chose
for my poetry booklet.
Hope you and Zebbycat are staying warm this winter!

I have a quiet 4th planned...I've finally recovered from a five day hospitalization but I'm still taking it easy.
G-Man -
You are a dear. Your poetic verse flatters this
old girl and always makes me smile!

I couldn't resist this template. It is also one of my favorite colors. It's close to the color of my new poetry book on Amazon. Check it out,
"Life's Journey" - you can look at the back cover and see inside, as well.

It is a happy time for us, usually - lots of family get togethers and celebrations. I have nothing special planned, though. Just taking it easy. Finally on the mend after my five days of hospitalization and still not ready to overdo things.

Thanks for coming back. I'm sure Lafayette will be having a great 4th of July. Wish I were there with you, feasting on crawfish and raw oysters....don't know how the oil spill has impacted on all this.
Beautiful poem and tribute to those served to keep us free.
ReplyDeleteA big AMEN to safe returns! Happy 4th to you.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful poem, Carmen, to honor our military service members who preserve our cherished freedoms! Happy 4th of July!

If only all our troops could return safely, it would be a joyous day!
Pat @ Mille Fiori Favoriti - I know you must have had a spectacular 4th in Brooklyn! I was home alone and didn't even step outside the whole day!
Hitesh Rawat -
I so agree with you. It would be nice if we could hold that patriotic sense all year through. We manage it for holidays and then it seems to die down until the next one.
