A New Year's Win

Well, I had an enjoyable New Year's Eve here at my computer, eating leftover Thai food, followed up with some wonderful chocolate covered marzipan, sipping ZD Reserve Chardonnay.  It doesn't get much better than that!  Then, as I was looking at blogs, I discovered I had won a prize!  Just in the last few days, I discovered the blog of another poet, Carolyn R. Parsons, better known as "Breeze" - far more talented than I am - who has just published "Wind Rhymes:  Poetry from the Breeze" ( available at Amazon ).  The criteria for the contest were that anyone who commented on a post or became a follower would be entered in a drawing for a copy of the book in a drawing to take place on New Year's eve.  The names were drawn by Breeze's two daughters.  Six-year-old, Sophia, pulled the name of Shadow at 1 Door Away from Heaven  and 4-year-old, Martina, drew my name!  I can't wait for my book to arrive.  Check out Breeze's blog at:  Breeze Daze.

One of my goals, if I ever scrape up enough extra funds, is to publish a chapbook of some of my own poetry.  I hope I can do that this year!

I hope this indicates the beginning of a very lucky year and decade for me.  At least, it has started off in the very nicest way.  Goodness, I just thought, when the new year rings for the next decade, I will be seventy-five years old!

  2. You are heart-warming, Carmen. I love to read your comments on my blog, and I love your zest for life. I'm so glad you won a wonderful prize to start your new year. May your coming days be full of blessings, as you are a blessing to others.

  3. Y0u are dead wrong you know! You will be 75 years YOUNG. If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then age is in the mind of the beholder and I am sure everyone who knows you will agree that you are everything but old. So now excuses for getting lazy, just keep the poems and posts rolling for we are all looking forward to them. Congrats on your prize and I hope 2010 will continue for you the same way it began.

  5. Congratulations dear Carmen on winning the book! I wish you well on that chapbook. Your poems are well-written, it would be a good thing to preserve them in a book. I would be the first to get a copy if it gets published! Am a huge fan! Happy new year! *hugs*

  7. Congratulations! I'm glad you are one of the winners! It seems you had a rough year and if this brightens it in any small measure then it's a greater pleasure.

As good as it felt to win something it felt equally good to start the new year by giving something away! I think we should start every year by giving.

Take care Carmen and send me your address and I'll pop your book in the post on Monday!
