  5. Uh-oh. I knew it would be dangerous visiting here late at night on an empty stomach. Those ribs look incredible. But I really wish I had that burger in front of me right now!!

  10. I have to run up to SLO for a couple of days this month - I'll have to keep this place in mind! I've heard the Big Sky Cafe is great for dinner.

  17. OMG!!!! I can't believe the size of some of those serves. I thought I ate a lot but I think it would take me a week to get through those Ribs.

    They do look delish though.

  19. Lunch looks great. I love SLO tho I have not been there in quite a few years. My parents retired to a small town north of Santa Barbara and one of their favorite places to go for brkfst on the wkends was in Morro Bay...of course, I can't remember the name just now but it's a bakery style restaurant w/ a great view of the bay & the rock. It's been there forever.

Meanwhile, listened to "50 Ways to Leave Yr Lover" by Sony Holland. I've never heard of her but I may be forgiven as I live in a tiny town w/ 3 radio stations, none of whom play jazz. She is really good!

  24. Travelingjoan - I can't believe that I was in
San Luis Obispo so many times and only ate
there the day my son graduated from Cal Poly!

Poetic Shutterbug - for a college hangout, the
food at Firestone Grill is unbelievably good!

MaxiVelasco - there were only four of us eating
at Firestone that day but I wanted to try so
many things, I ordered several extra dishes.
I didn't photograph it all. Everything was
great. The tri tip steak is a specialty
but, since I can rarely find beef ribs, I
    was thrilled with those.

Renee - it was delicious. With my two 6'4"
athlete sons, there wasn't a morsel left!

willow - visiting late night blogs with food
    pictures always is my downfall!

lakeviewer - Firestone Grill has pork and beef
ribs and all sorts of other things on the
menu. Have you never visited San Luis
Obispo and the Paso Robles wine country?
    It is a lovely area!

Bernie - really good food. I just regret I
didn't discover Firestone till the day my
    son graduated!

Tes - mouthwatering, indeed. I was starving
    after I posted the pictures!

Priyanka Bhowmick - I wonder how many of those
Monster Burgers have been served to Cal Poly
students! The place is fun because of all
those college kids. Took me back to the
    days of my youth.

Janiss - I'll have to remember the Big Sky. I
am usually in SLO every year for a forensic
conference at the Cliffs. We go to Rosa's
and Jocko's or McClintock but I've told my
colleagues we have to go to the Firestone,
especially since we usually try to hit their
    Thursday night Farmer's market.

cinner - wise choice, an orange instead of a
burger. Great will power, which I never
    have!

magiceye - the food is good but give me Indian
    anytime!

Bhavesh Chhatbar - I'm sure there were vege
choices on the Firestone menu as we do have
many vegetarians in California and many on
    the Cal Poly campus!

  25. Sheila - every bit of that meal was finished.
The roses were free to use from a wonderful
    website, schererarts.

jane - I think that monster burger picture is
gorgeous and certainly gets on salivating!

rainfield61 - conversation did stop for a little
    while!

Liss - the servings are generous, probably
since they are used to serving college
    athletes!

Icy BC - since I also do a lot of reviews for
Yelp and TripAdvisor, I almost always have
my camera with me. My boys hate that I whip
it out at meals but they've gotten used to
    it now!

California Girl - isn't Morro Bay wonderful?
My son lived there one of his Cal Poly
years. I think I ate at that bakery cafe
once, also at Windows on the Water and at
a famous fish and chips place, with a view
of the rock. I love the central CA coast.

Dulce - I, myself, was wishing I could go back
to the Firestone Grill. Hopefully, I'll have
enough money to attend my forensic conference
in March and I'll get back there again!

Donna - there is always McDonald's, I guess,
but none of the fast food chains can match
    that monster burger!

corvedacosta - I doubt that much of the
Firestone menu could really be classed as
healthy but it certainly is delicious.

Margie - I thought the Margiedales served
breakfast at your beck and call...maybe
they can whip up a murder burger!

  26. Carmen...I live about a 3 minute walk away from Firestone Grill....I love the chicken strips there..with mustard sauce....but the bbq can't be beat...my husbands favorite place on this planet is Jocko's. McClintocks has been dissapointing lately. Have you tried Novo by the creek. It is usually very good. Robin, the owner buys all the food from farmers market..and you can tell...

how funny you were in my backyard..literally..

I live across the street from the Del Monte Cafe..have you been there? if you like Firestone you would like this..not bbq..but very good homestyle food...we walk across the street in our p.j.'s for supper sometimes...we know Travis the owner very well...nice folks...
    great food...

thanks for the kind words about my award..you're a dear..

    more later,
