San Francisco Zoo - Tarantulas - June 27, 2011

When I went to pick up my friend, Joanne Olivieri ( aka Poetic Shutterbug ) the
other day for a rendevous at the Park Chalet, I couldn't help but notice this
sign on her street, advertising the latest exhibit at the San Francisco Zoo!  Give
me the sweet little koalas any day of the week, tarantulas are not my favorite
creatures.  The sign certainly got my attention, though!

I thought it was a great photo for both Mellow Yellow Monday #127

  3. I saw a tarantula exhibit at the Butterfly Pavilion in Denver, Co and found them to be fascinating creatures. I wouldn't hold one in my hand, however, no matter how "gentle" they are supposed to be! :0)

Thanks for entering the $100 HomeGoods gift card give away on my review blog and tweeting it, Carmen! I really appreciate it!

With my bad luck with insect bites, cellulitis, and hospitalization, I don't think I'd give a tarantula a chance! I know they are not poisonous but they give me the creeps!

I AM scared of spiders...and anything creepy crawly except lady bugs and dragnflies and lightning bugs, I usually avoid!

    HOOTIN' ANNI -
I hear that the taratula exhibit has been very popular so I guess it appeals to quite a few folks. Well, to each his own. Love your new blog layout, Anni!

    Keanna -
Thanks for stopping by. I'm over to check out your Mellow Yelow after I post here!

I'll bet your little grandson liked the tarantulas. I'll take the butterflies. Funny, how we're programmed to like certain things!

I checked out Home Goods in our area. There is none really close by but I pass near one on my way to see my son and DIL in Sacramento - about half way up. I'll have to check it out. They seem like fabulous stores.

  8. A friend had a pet tarantula once. It was mostly good for scaring his mother.

  15. I had to laugh at this post. My son, who lives on a farm about 50 kms away, has a pet tarantula and a couple of weeks ago his wife met his tarantula (or so she thought)in the poorly lit passage. Of course she told him exactly how she felt about his tarantula (and him) only to be told that his tarantula was in its cage. Now he has two tarantulas... wonder if they were meant for each other - lol.
