I really was fascinated by the hang gliders last week and shot lots of pictures while I was
there. I wish we had gotten up to the cliff where they were taking off and landing. Maybe
one of these days, I'll be able to figure out just where that is!

It's exhilerating watching hang gliders in action! Great photos!
ReplyDeleteThey are so hard to photograph! love your shots!

Hello! here in Lleida, there are perfect places to fly glider. In the population, called Ager, you can still see dozens of these devices the skies!
ReplyDeleteI myself, if you ever find the courage, I have to do!
it's exciting but still pretty expensive here. i'm looking for a sponsor.*LOL*
ReplyDeleteHang gliding looks like fun and thrilling, Carmen! But I've growing too old for this activity :-( Wish I could do it over!
ReplyDeleteWish I could para glide like that now!!! Awaiting for that day in my life!!!

Pulicat Lake Part II
Our son does base jumping ... would much prefer him hang gliding ... These are great shots!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful spot to hang... I would worry about getting rescued if anything went wrong, but then I don't suppose they ever expect that to happen.
ReplyDeleteThat is really good photo. I wonder where these people gonna land? ^_^
ReplyDeleteMYM
Looks like fun but I know it can be dangerous too. You were smart to take photos and watch. :))
ReplyDeletewhere is this Carmen, somehow the scenery looks familiar, almost like Torrey Pines as well. beautiful shots.
ReplyDeleteThe birds grow bigger and bigger ..
ReplyDeletewould be so much fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid I used to fantasize about flying. This must be the closest people have ever gotten to really feeling like flying.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try doing this someday. Nice capture, Carmen! :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to glide too.
ReplyDeleteGreat captures.

ReplyDeleteI've lived in this area for 34 years now and it seems the skies are becoming quite crowded - more and more people are taking up this hobby!
Indrani -
I'm too old for it now...and I'm really afraid of open heights - though I did parasail once in Puerto Vallarta and I did two hot air balloon rides over the Napa Valley vineyards - so beautiful. We came down afterwards at a designated area and had a champagne brunch which was so much fun.
Tes -
I can see you, betchai and a few of your brave gang trying your skills at hang gliding!
Mar -
I think they're about as hard to photograph as birds in flight but, at least, they're a bit larger!
"J" -
I think it's for you younger folks...but it would be fun to do it whenever you travel - like hot air ballooning.
Luna Miranda -
I think it is cost prohibitive for the average person. I know a lot of people who do it often buy their own hang gliders...but, still...that's not cheap!
Icy BC -
Well, you're still pretty young...think of me at 66 - even climbing stairs, with my arthritic knees, is becoming a challenge.
Mitr Friend - Bhushavali -
I do hope the day comes that you can go hang gliding. That time has long ago passed me by!
missing moments -
Our kids can really do things that scare the heck out of us! My son, occasionally, rides
motorcycles which I hate - as an RN of 45 years,
I've just seen so many terrible accidents in
the emergency room. At least, he wears a
helmet!
Lesley -
We don't often hear of accidents, thankfully - though a 62-year-old retired female MD was in the water ( she had on a wet suit ) for 12 hours last week. She did just fine, though.
Kim, USA -
I think they come back to their take off point area on that cliff.
EG Wow -
At my age ( 66 ), I'm only in the sky in an airplane! I do love flying, though, even in little Cessnas and on long trips ( I'm planning a six month visit to India ).
betchai -
This is Highway 35 ( Skyline Drive ) heading out of San Francisco to Daly City in San Mateo County. There are cliffs along the road and,
apparently, the air currents are good here for the hang gliders.

I'm afraid these guys are crowding out the other birds. I wonder what the seagulls think of all of them!
magiceye -
You are a lot braver than I am!
Sharkbytes (TM) -
I can absolutely seeing you hang gliding! You are the adventuresome sort!
Ratty -
It must be exhilirating since people are out there every decent weather day. I think it is addicting!
Rajesh -
I just wish I could have gotten a little closer to these guys!
