Aren't those poppies pretty? I know they come in other colors but the yellow ones are our state flower and I am partial to them.

I've never seen pink poppies, red, occasionally, but our state flower, the yellow, grows everywhere.

Poppies are such cheerful flowers - I love that they grow in the most inhospitable places, along the freeways, along rocky hillsides, etc.

I'm happy that the poppy is our state flower. It's a bit more prolific than the daisy which grows everywhere here, too.

I'm not sure what the wooden structure is in my photo...it might have something to do with winemaking as it was at a winery. I love that it was weathered and it looked so nice with the poppies.

Those California poppies ( our state flower ) need just a little bit of brightness to open their faces to the sun. They close up when it gets dark!

That golden poppy is the state flower of California and it blooms all year on days when the sun is out.

Poppies are such wonderful flowers. They are everywhere in my state...at least, the yellow ones. I never see other colors.
