She was a living legend,
Stunning eyes a violet hue,
Her beauty made us gasp,
But she suffered her life through.
She spent her days in pain,
And eight times was a bride,
But when death came to call,
She had no husband by her side.
Elizabeth,
may you find
that elusive happiness
in heaven.

I was just watching a tribut to her on telly. She will be missed by the world.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you wrote this. She was one of a kind.
ReplyDeletevery sweet eulogy in 55! She certainly was a beauty!
ReplyDeleteThey don't make them like that any more. More's the pity.

Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End
She had such a huge impact on us all. I hadn't realize how far it extended until I started seeing tributes to her on people's blogs.

ReplyDeletesweet sentiments to a sad event.
ReplyDeletebless her.
you rock.
Solid, good work. Nice to see a fellow East Bay Californian in the mix.
ReplyDeleteProof, I think, that in the end our only true legacy is how we made others feel.
ReplyDeleteOne of the most famous people ever. She was a little before my time. My mom has been mentioning her just about every time we've talked the last few days.
ReplyDeleteWhat a legacy she has left the world. And yes, what a sad life full of suffering...
ReplyDeleteThat is the end of an era, I think. She was in some really good films.
ReplyDeleteMaggie X
Nuts in May
There was quite a bit of drama there.
ReplyDeleteWell, I was never much of a fan, but it's always sad when legends pass on.
ReplyDeleteShe was incredible... And I love that she left instructions to start her funeral 15 minutes behind schedule so she could be "fashionably late".
ReplyDeleteRIP

ReplyDeletei knew you were a class act, thank you for this tribute, i loved this icon and was stunned when she was gone, but i loved her humor as she made herself late for her own funeral!! by 15 minutes, per request in her will!! great gal!!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful tribute to a beautiful lady. Love your writings. By the way, I just met a fellow blogger who has started a network of women bloggers in prime time of life. That is 50 and up. It's in infancy stage, but thought you'd like to connect. Just send an email to Ann at ann@spanielhill.com and ask her for the link. Your blog will be a terrific addition. Keri
ReplyDeleteWow, never thought if it that way 8 husbands but none at her side at the end. Very nice of you to think of that.
