"P" Is For Pooped - Alphabe Thursday, 5-6-10

"P" Is For Pooped - Alphabe Thursday, 5-6-10

I am nowhere near finished with all I have to do before heading to Sacramento tomorrow morning.  I'd better make a list or I'm sure I'll forget something, like my shoes for the wedding.  I did get out today to Costco and buy all the wine for the rehearsel dinner.  Though the restaurant charges $15/bottle corkage fee, I was able to get a good Italian blend, which got a 90 and Best Buy in the Wine Spectator for less than the least expensive bottle at the restaurant, even with a corkage fee!  I just finished the poster board with the photos of the bride and groom at various stages in their lives - got a little teary, at times, looking through all Alex's photos.

I am so pooped right now, I'm thinking maybe I should just go on to bed and get up at 5AM and pack.  I do hope everyone understands that I may be a little slow in getting around to reading blogs and responding to comments.  I'll catch up on Sunday and Monday when all the wedding stuff is over.  I kind of think maybe I shouldn't have tried one of theose bottles of wine this evening but I did need to sample it to make sure it was good enough for the rehearsel dinner, right???

Pooped I may be but I am so excited that, at this time, Friday night, I will be a mother-in-law!

  10. Congrats, Carmen. I wish Alex and Laura all the best. And of course you had to make sure the wine was good! I'm so with you on that. I think the going to bed and getting up early to pack is a great idea. I end up doing that a lot. I'm just too pooped out at the end of a long day to think clearly about what I need in that suitcase...

  13. Oh how fun! I can't wait to see pictures. You are going to look lovely.

I hope you go to bed and forget about reading all the links this week.

That is our little gift to you for the wedding, OK?

Just take that time to do something nice for you as you get ready for this big day, Carmen!

And it's official. You have a teachers pass to get out of reading for the week!

Can't wait to see the lovely pics.

Thinking of you on your journey of joy!

    A+

  20. hitesh rawat - Laura and Alex took care of ( and
paid for ) most of the wedding themselves - and they started almost a year ago. Laura's mom lives in the Sacramento area, though, so she helped a bit. I actually got the recommendation for the winery they used for the wedding from another winery that I know. It was so beautiful!

  21. Ratty - the wedding was wonderful! I had a delightful time and enjoyed every minute. Finally, after I got home Saturday night, I got my first good night's sleep!!

  27. GardenofDaisies - Yes, $15 and, can you believe, one case was an excellent Italian SCREW CAP wine. My boys opened them and we still paid corkage...but it was $5 less than if we had bought their wine.

  28. laterg8r - you know, I wasn't aware if things did go wrong. It seemed so perfect to me. The only complaint I had was that, as the sun set, it got chilly. I had blankets in my car, though, so that helped!

  29. Tracy - I am sure your wedding will be as wonderful an occasion as mine was. My oldest son tells me he'll never get married ( he's 39 so I'm beginning to think he won't ) but I have one who is 25 who says he might be ready when he's 30!

  30. Tina - everything was great. Two of my friends were ill and couldn't make it which made me sad but, other than that, it was a joyful day. I couldn't be happier with the daughter I now have!!

  31. Terra - all the events went by in such a blur. Nonstop happiness...it made up for much of the sadness at losing my job!

  32. Julie Schuler - It was so much fun. I love Laura's family - now mine. My own is so very small. I was so glad, though, that my brother and his wife came from Georgia to add a little of our own family to the festivities.

  33. Jenny - this wedding was such a happy occasion. I just wish Shawn, in Germany, could have been with his other two brothers. The winery setting was so beautiful and Laura and Alex were so jubilant. Laura smiled and smiled...hardly a tear ever bedimmed her eyes. Scribner's wines were excellent - they had a really good tempranillo.

  34. Christy - thanks for the Mother's Day wishes. I got the nicest gift of all - as my newlywed son's card said - "I gave you what you've always wanted - a daughter". The wedding was spectacular and I had so much fun.

  35. mbkatc230 - Kathy, that wine was excellent. I need to get back to Costco for another case before it's gone! The wedding was the best! Okay, I'm a bit predjudiced!
