Happily Ever After - Flash 55, Friday, 5-14-10
A week ago, this very day,
I gave my middle son away!
Beautiful Laura is now his wife,
May theirs be a joyous married life!
I felt such pride to see my son,
So in love with the girl he’d won,
With those vows said, I just know,
Their love will only continue to grow.

I love it when a 55 is non-fiction (especially when they are happy tales). What a great tribute to your son and his new wife. May they be filled with great joy and many, many years of happiness!

ReplyDeleteIt was THE WEDDING of the year!! A beautiful fairy tale come true!
ReplyDeleteHootin' Anni - thank you, Anni. I had a wonderful time at the wedding!
ReplyDeleteDonna - you are so sweet, always. Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteChef Kar - thank you so much for your warm wishes for my newly married son and his beautiful bride!
ReplyDeleteBrian Miller - I appreciate your good wishes for Alex and Laura! They are terrific young people and they've already been together six years so they've shown they have staying power!
ReplyDeletesheri - I've finally recovered from all the wedding hooplah. It was well worth losing a bit of sleep. I had such a great time with all of it. I wish I could convince my 39-year-old son that marriage isn't such a bad thing. My youngest, who is 25 says maybe he'll be ready for marriage when he's 30!
ReplyDeleteG-Man - this was one of the happiest 55's I've done. I'm still on a high from the wedding!
ReplyDeleteIcy BC - Laura goes back to work tomorrow
ReplyDelete( she's a paramedic ) after ten days off and she's gotten spoiled being at home. They didn't go on a honeymoon...Alex is still in class. They decided to wait a few months till they have all the wedding bills paid, anyway! Practical kids, both of them!
hitesh rawat - I do hope their marriage will be one of those that last for eternity and stays happy!
ReplyDeleteGlynis - Laura is a beauty and the two of them have so much in common. They are both into their dogs, they like to run and they're very health oriented ( not like me! )
ReplyDeleteTina - thank you for the kind compliments..glad you liked the 55 and my photos!
ReplyDeleteruma2008 - my friend, Ruma, I'm glad you got to see the wedding. I would have enjoyed your presence there in person, sharing a few glasses of wine with me!!
ReplyDeletePattiKen - thanks for the congrats...I am a very lucky mom and mother-in-law. I hope I it happens twice more!
ReplyDeleteWelshcakes Limoncello - I wish my kids could honeymoon in Sicily! They haven't taken one yet since Alex is in school...Laura would like to go to Greece but, after the wedding expenses, most of which they paid for themselves, they've decided to postpone the honeymoon for awhile. I'm not sure they'll go as far afield as Greece but I think it would be a great honeymoon spot!
ReplyDeleteTravelingjoan - For me, it truly was the wedding of the year. I was so overjoyed!
ReplyDeleteThey look amazing, and the setting is like a dream, I've just noticed the petals on the ground... Wonderful. I'm amazed at your ability to write, you even wrote for them the "a week later" poem! :) Have a nice weekend, Carmen.

fullet - this was very easy to write...I'm still so blissful from their wedding. Hope you have some fun this weekend, too. A dear nursing school classmate is in town, with her M. D. husband so Ann and I will head out for lunch tomorrow while Tim is at his conference!

ReplyDeleteAwwww... Carmen. Handsome groom, beautiful bride, romantic setting...what a perfect wedding. Congratulations to all.
ReplyDeletemagiceye - I've passed on your good wishes to my son and daughter-in-law. Next to an Indian wedding, it was as lovely as any I've ever seen!
ReplyDeletebetchai - glad you liked my flash 55 dedicated to Laura and Alex. This one was so easy to write!
ReplyDeleteMerisi - I glad you were able to attend my son's wedding from far away in Vienna. It was such a special day. When things settle down a bit, they'll finally plan a honeymoon. Alex was still in classes so they didn't want to take time off now.
