Lifesavers - Friday Flash 55 - July 19, 2013

Though monsoon rains continue,
I'm in a better mood,
I've found a good martini,
And really top notch food.

I can feast on rare carpaccio,
When the urge possesses me,
Just the shortest rickshaw ride,
From the Arabian Sea.

There's nothing like an ocean view,
To cure whatever's ailing you!

Even in the pouring rain!

    1. It's funny...during monsoon season, most of the restaurants don't serve seafood...I guess it's poor quality at this time...but I'm glad to find a good martini and places that actually serve beef!

    1. I am surprised at how good this carpaccio is....I was a bit hesitant to eat it in India...didn't feel that way having steak tartar ( another favorite ) in Brussels.

I think we're in for another month of steady rain!

  3. The simple pleasures in life--good food, a calming beverage, a laugh among friends, an ocean view--will reconcile you to a lot of rain. Enjoyed this.

    1. Fortunately for Mumbai, we've had much less flooding than some other parts of India, partly because much of the water drains off into the Arabian Sea....it's a good thing because streets flood with their poor drainage and water backs up into shops, etc. It is a mess!

    1. Glad you liked my 55, Mary...one must do something to keep away the gloommies. I'm glad I don't have to go to work every day in these downpours.

  5. There's something poignant about looking at a body of water through the rain. Especially if you're in a nice, dry place with martinis and good food at hand.

    1. The perfect way to view the rain....I especially like it in winter, with a roaring fireplace...but in Mumbai's muggy heat, that wouldn't work.

    1. I try to eat at Bandra's Saltwater Cafe weekly. It is really excellent - on a par with some of San Francisco's finest! Definitely a cheerer upper in these monsoon rains.

    1. Joanna, dear, I think there is a month yet of monsoon. I'm going to have to start making my martinis at home for the days it is just too wet to get out!!!

    1. I really like this Saltwater Cafe. When I was there yesterday, Dalip Tahil was finishing his lunch across from me ( dining alone ). I said hello on my way out and told him I'd seen many of his films.
