A Desperate Prayer with 18 Days Left - March 18, 2012

18 days remain for me,
In the country of my heart
What am I going to miss the most,
Where does the list begin to start?

India, vast and mysterious,
Is forever enticing me,
I've barely seen a tiny bit,
Of all I want to see.

My palate's tasted every food,
And spicy daunts me not,
The breads are bits of heaven,
I could be fatter but I'm not.

I feel so full of love these months,
So welcome where I've gone,
From my Royal Caribbean friends,
To perfect strangers, I've been drawn.

I pray to the gods and goddesses,
To grant my safe return,
For until I touch this shore once more,
My heart will ever yearn.

    1. Steve, I still can't believe I did it...so many people were against my taking this trip. Of course, it helped that I had my friends here in Mumbai who gave me a place to stay...and, other friends, were so generous and warm in their welcomes. A blogging buddy, opened his home in Bangalore, and I had the most delightful time there. Every place I visited, turned out to be so special. All the glum predictions of friends turned out not to materialize...though I did have my wallet and $1000 stolen...but that could have happened anywhere.

I would like to spend the rest of my life, half a year here and half a year in the US, if I can swing it. There is something about this place, its people and its beauty, in spite of the poverty and problems that draws you. I've always loved India but, now, it really is a part of me.

    1. Meresi,

I hope I'll be back...my heart is now in two places, that's for sure....there by that Golden Gate Bridge and here hovering above the Arabian Sea.

    1. Icy - I hope I am on your permanent prayer list as I can always use those prayers. I've already lined up visits with all my docs because I am hoping to come back to India as soon as I can...have to be in the US two months before I can apply for another visa. I think I will try to live half a year in India, half at home...financially, it's sure works best for me and, clearly, I'm happiest in India!

    1. India is definitely the place I seem happiest at this time in my life. I've found I can do without most of the trappings I thought were so important!!! I'm hoping to be back soon.

    1. Shark, I hope I will continue the India adventure...splitting my time between my two countries. I can't afford to live in the US unless I find another place to live and I want to be on the West Coast if I'm in the US...I'll have to pinch my pennies and see how I can work things out.
