Update on Carmen

What? No Eye Shadow? That hospital needs to start dispensing cosmetics :)

Carmen looks great and is in fantastic spirits.  She actually had a banana today which is a good sign as they are starting her on solids.  She is still in some pain but we managed to occupy the day with silliness and laughter.  She very well may be going home tomorrow, on Tuesday.  She will have to go back in a month for a colonoscopy (I hope I spelled that correctly) to determine exactly what is going on.  She also has some large kidney stones that have to be dealt with.  She has most of her stuff packed and looks like she'll be home probably by the time many of you read this.  Once she's back, make sure to comment and ask her about the "noodle police." :D

She thanks you all for your concern, thoughts and beautiful kind words.  Once she is home she will be visiting all of you, commenting and posting on this blog.

Thanks,
Jo aka (Poetic Shutterbug)

  1. So glad to see Carmen, with or without eye shadow. You don't need to wear makeup when you find out you need a colonoscopy, you need to wear mourning. Horrible process, shuddddderrrrr. And large kidney stones? Large ones? Egad.
Can hardly wait to find out about the noodle police, however.
Thanks for keeping us posted, Jo.

  9. So glad to hear that you feel better Carmen. Maybe a few more days of total rest once you're home will do the trick.

Carmen, with enough drugs, you can do the colonoscopy. I had one, piece of cake. Take care! Love ya, girl!

  13. Thank you, Jo! This is good news. Carmen, you look really good even without your eye shadow. This days I'm visiting daily my father at the hospital, he has to stay there during some days for some testings. It's so tiring! I'm glad to know you'll be home soon.

  16. Thanks to Jo for doing all her blogging and posting on mine so you all know the latest!!!!

Fortunately, my colonscopy, done at 62, only about 12 years later than recommended ( okay,
that's a nurse for you! ) wasn't bad at all.
I opted to stay awake so I could see it..though
    I did have Versed.

    manuela -
It is so good to see your name here. I keep
thinking we'll suddenly hear that you've found
employment in some new and exciting part of the
    world!

    Sony Holland -
Picking up that phone in the hospital, and hearing your voice on the other end, was such
a joy!! You know I made a ring tone out of
"At Last" which I downloaded from CD Baby so it's Jo's! Such fun.

I only had my first "solid" food - a banana -
yesterday. Clear liquids for two full days,
nothing by mouth the first day. Yuck.

    Bernie -
Thanks for the prayers! I had a lovely Canadian nurse one day - from BC. She spent a lot time in my room and we talked Canada.

    Sheila -
I don't think I'll be able to overdo it too much..the old body is setting limits! I do have an outing with Jo Friday night but can't even have a glass of wine because of the medication I'm taking ( that is going to be something! ).

Being hospitalized in the San Francisco area has its pluses ( not many, though ). One day, I had the sweetest aide - from MALAYSIA. I
pulled up your blog on my Droid 2 - kind of hard to see it all but she was so thrilled with the pictures - and the fact that I had been in Malaysia.

    Irredento Urbanita -
Valery, thank you so much for your good wishes and making me feel better.

    Icy BC -
It's just so nice to be able to get back on the computer though I'm not sure about that "total rest" bit. I've definitely slowed down a little, though.

    Rosadimaggio63 -
I'd feel a whole lot better if I was in Italy!!! It's now been over a year since I last visited!!

    magiceye -
Did you get out and see all the Obama festivities. It did my heart good to see him in India ( where I should be! )

    Reflections -
I so appreciate your good wishes and visit to my blog. Hope to see you again.

The colonoscopy doesn't worry me too much. My one, four years ago, wasn't bad at all and it was interesting to watch. It won't happen for a month, though - they want my bowel to get a good rest before they give me the prep. Just what I want, huh, diarrhea again!

    Josep,
I'm sorry your father is ailing and I pray all the tests show noting about which to worry. I can't believe I let Jo take that picture of me without eyeshadow...but, I had not at all planned on being hospitalized. Had just run over to my doctor's and ended up sent to the ER and admitted. Jeremy was willing to bring some things but he drew the line at seaching through my cosmetics. BAD son!

You are such a dear and, definitely, a diplomat!
That was not one of my finest pictures!

    Joseph Brecker Cruises -
Now, Joseph, my dear, you and I have traveled together and you KNOW I would never appear like that in public!!!
