UE's Weekend Challenge: Black and White - Saints Peter and Paul Church, San Francisco, California - June 30, 2013

This lovely church, directly acoss from Washington Square in San Francisco's
North Beach area, has been the home church and cultural center for San
Francisco's Italian community since its consecration.  In recent years, it has
also become the home church for the city's Chinese-American Roman Catholic
population.

The church has been part of many movies filmed in San Francisco.

Shadow Shot Sunday, Poetic Shutterbug, August 22, 2010

Shadow Shot Sunday, Poetic Shutterbug, August 15, 2010

For once, it was a bright sunny day in San Francisco, and my friend, Joanne Olivieri
( the famous blogster, Poetic Shutterbug ) and I were in Washington Square, cameras
in hand, en route to hear our friend and jazz diva, Sony Holland perform.   We fit right in
with all the summer tourists as we began snapping away at all the famous landmarks
in sight.  I just couldn't resist getting this picture of Jo's shadow on the ground!  I've
been spending a good bit of time with her lately, in search of photos for our respective
blogs and I see as much of her with her camera in front of her face as I do otherwise.
It's almost as though we are on a scavenger hunt when we're out.  I'll see something and
yell, "Oh, I have to get that for my Mellow Yellow meme" and off she'll go, muttering, "I
need something for "Camera Critters".  I am sure people wonder if we've forgotten our
medications.

Camera Critters and Pet Pride - A Nice Dog in San Francisco's Washington Square - August 14, 2010

Camera Critters and Pet Pride
A Nice Dog in San Francisco's Washington Square
 August 14, 2010

A friend and I were taking a shortcut through San Francisco's Washington Square on Thursday afternoon, en route to see our favorite jazz diva perform at a local North Beach cafe.  People were out in droves to enjoy the beautiful sunny day.  One young man was lazily giving his dog a workout.  He was stretched out on the grass, tossing a ball for his dog who raced happily after it, bringing it dutifully back to his master.  After about fifteen minutes of this, the young man got up, picked up the leash, and the dog trotted after him, panting from his exercise!
