Little Things Thursdays - California Poppies - June 4, 2014


A field of bright orange California poppies ( Eschscholzia californica ), designated
our state flower in 1903, is a joy to behold.  They grow wild all over the state and 
should be started from seed and allowed to reseed every year.







Unfortunately, this poppy has been almost completely devoured by this worm
or caterpillar!

    1. I do love those bright cheery poppies. They come in other colors but the orange appeal to me most.

    1. It's nice that the poppies grow wild almost everywhere, reseeding themselves. They close up as the sun sets, though.
