Friday Flash 55 - India Bound, Once More - May 17, 2013

India Bound Once More

Two weeks from now,
I leave once more,
To spend six months,
On a distant shore.

I’ve a brand new shoulder,
And a grandchild, too,
I’ve seen friends and family,
And every doctor I knew.

I’ve enjoyed good wine,
And eaten lots of steak,
Now I’ll feast on curries,
And the great breads they make.

  1. How wonderful! (Both the trip and the fact that you told us so much in so few words!) (I can hardly say my name in 55 words or less ;>)

Have a great trip; take lots of pictures.

    1. Thanks for visiting, Sallie. This will be my third trip to India since my City & County forensic nursing position of 21 years ended in 2009. I spent four months in Mumbai from 12-11 to 4-12, came home for 2-1/2 months, then went to jaipur for five months ( see "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" - great movie and it was filmed near where I lived ). Since retirement on only a half pension, I can hardly afford to live in the San Franciso area!

    1. Well, betchai, it's actually almost seven months now since I've been in India. Had to recover from my shoulder replacement and welcome my lovely little granddaughter, Harper Ann. It's just so expensive living here full time, since my job ended in 2009 - a half pension and social security just aren't enough!

    1. Dear Ruma, now I am slightly crazy, with just two weeks left, trying to get everything done prior to my India trip. All my doctor's visits are complete, I've a clean bill of health, now I just have to start packing and squeeze in a short trip to Sacramento to see my sweet little granddaughter.

      Blessings to you in Japan.

    1. Dear Galen....I will try to be better about my 55 posts from India...in between, finally, trying to learn a little Hindi. I can't even figure out all the gods! And those rupees...wooden ones would be worth more than the paper ones, I think!

In the meantime, I will try not to develop Delhi Belly or Mumbai Motion and enjoy the good food.

    1. Joan, I'm just crossing my fingers I stay well and get to do some traveling out of Mumbai. Want to go back to Jaipur a couple of times and get down south to Kerala and a few other places. I'm not looking forward to the heat and mosquitoes....but you are right, I do love India.

    1. Hi Brian, the shoulder is doing amazingly well. Can't believe I put off the operation so long. The doctor ws right - I felt better the day after than the day before. I just have to be careful not to lift too much with that left arm.

After this visit, if I stay the whole six months, I'll have lived 15 months in India since my retirement. It is an amazing country...with many problems, of course, but filled with rich history, culture, and wonderful people...and, of course, the food is fabulous.
