I think this is my first time to take part in "Theme Thursday." This week's topic is
"fragrance" & I went back to some photos from the past & found this lovely rose.
There is a beautiful home in San Francisco's Pacific Heights that is planted with
the most incredible flowers &, if I'm around when they are in bloom, I am back
there many times, with my camera. It's a "must see" when friends visit & my
dear forensic nurse friend, Merle Endo, from Hawaii just happened to be here
once when everything was blooming. We had a wonderful time, snapping away.

gorgeous shot...I find that cultivated roses have little to no fragrance - so sad to trade off scent for hybridizing....
ReplyDeleteYou are right, Joanne, so many roses have no fragrance at all. It's wonderful to find ones that do.
DeleteI think your picture fersonafies the saying..."there is nothing so lovely as a rose"
ReplyDeleteor something like that...that is truely a beautiful rose.
gsb, that stately home has dozens of rose bushes and other flowers cascading everywhere. I go back repeatedly in the season to get photographs and to enjoy their splendor. Most of them are in peach, orange to salmon colors, with some yellows and they are glorious.
Deleteso lovely like you <3
ReplyDeleteMuah, my dear Jidhu. You are always so sweet.
DeleteGreat capture.
ReplyDeleteEach petal so distinctly captured.
Thanks, Indrani. I always take dozens of pictures at that home. It is palatial, in San Francisco's Pacific Heights. I'd love to see the inside.
DeleteHello, RNSANE.
ReplyDeleteI bless birth of new life.
India seemed to attract you.
Please enjoy a good trip.
Have a good weekend. From Japan, ruma ❃
One of the reasons I go to India for such a long time - other than the fact that I have so many good friends there - is that it is an affordable place for me to live. Since my retirement from my nursing position, my pension affords me so little money to live in the San Francisco area.
DeleteGorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAnd it makes everyone looks young.
Perfect roses at that stately home. Their gardner is exceptional and must really work hard to keep everything so healthy and beautiful.
DeleteThat is one perfect rose. I can almost smell its sweetness :-)
ReplyDeleteHope you are going great. I'm off to catch up on your older posts.

I stumbled on that home, just by chance. It's near CPMC Medical Center and most of my doctor's offices. I never go there now without driving by to see the beautiful floral displays in bloom. That gardener is worth his weight in gold.
DeleteI love to smell the roses but we have miniature roses and for some reason they do not seem to have any special distinct fragrance about them. I really am not sure why except that someone told me that they are odorless because they were bred and not a real rose. But they are pretty and have a lot of blooms on each bush. I am thinking of trying to some that actually have a fragrance about them this year. It really would be nice to smell them.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing such a beautiful rose picture with us for this weeks Theme Thursday. I hope your weekend has been filled with lots of beautiful fragrances where ever you go.
God bless.
I never noticed that miniature roses did not have a fragrance. They are such perfect little roses. I never seemed to be able to keep them after their one blooming season....I do not have a green thumb.
DeleteOh and I almost forgot, welcome to Theme Thursday. I hope you like each weeks new prompt. And I want you to know that you can post anything about the prompt. Poems, stories, pictures, etc. The only requirement really is just that you have fun each week with whatever you do.
