Camera Critters Meme #228 - There's a Lot of Buzzing Going On - August 18, 2012

Outside the bathroom window at my friend's home in Panchkula which borders
Chandigarh, India, these bees ( wasps, hornets ) were busily at work on this
hive.  Sadly, a couple of days after this photo was taken, a large section of it
had fallen.  They were busily adding to the remaining piece.  Needless to say,
the bathroom window remains closed at all times.

    1. I agree with you, Pat, it was a bit weird bathing with
      them in such close proximity.

  4. As much as this is a wonderful picture, have to admit, that I'm very afraid of them. Respect for your courage to take the picture.
    Please have a wonderful time.

    1. Robert, I, too, am totally afraid of anything with a stinger. I stood on my friend's bedroom balcony to get this. Funny, these critters didn't fly around, just stayed close to the hive.

    1. I kind of felt sorry for them, after all that work, when a major portion of the hive, fell to the ground.

    1. Not huge at the time I left, Amanda, as half of it plummeted to the ground two stories below...poor bees, all that hard work for nothing.

  8. What a huge nest, I would be careful around these bees.

    1. Sadly, for the bees, anyway, it wasn't huge after half of it fell to the ground. I don't know what sort of
"glue" they produce to hold it together.
